Going Forward Into the New Year 2024

Happy New Year!

As we say farewell to 2023, we do so with some sadness because it has been a good year.   God blessed Promise Springs Rescue Center in such beautiful ways.  But we do say farewell knowing that our God is able to do more.  And we faithfully and with anticipation step forward into 2024 holding on to the promises of His word.

As you enter the compound of our center there is a beautiful gate.  On one side is painted Psalm 84:6, "When they walk through the valley of weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs.  The autumn rains will clothe it with blessing."   We see this as a perfect picture of what the girls and children of Promise Springs Rescue Center have done.  They have walked or are walking through the valley of weeping.  It is our prayer they do indeed come to a place of refreshing springs that clothes each one of them with their own unique blessings.

This is a picture of the whole group with some other special children in our ministry, the children of Florah, our manager.  This was taken on Christmas Day.

When we look at these girls, we see beauty.  We see the pain and trauma they have overcome, and we see them walking through the valley.  2023 has shown some of them walking into the place of refreshing springs as they have finished high school, gone forward to vocational school or pre-university courses and some on to internships that will lead them to employment that allows them to provide for themselves.   It is with thanksgiving that we see the dreams that they have, becoming a reality, because we know that it is a gift from God as he has orchestrated everything in each of their lives.  It is a product of the obedience of those who care about them and who pray for them and support them with donations.  It is a blessing that is so beautiful to watch.

And the blessings this year have abounded.  See below the almost finished 3rd dorm.  We call it dorm C.  This is the backside.  It does indeed have windows on the front.  It allows the center to help more girls and share Christ with them.

When the person who sponsored this building, the staff, and we look at it, we all say the same thing, "It is so big!!!"  It can bring a feeling of being overwhelmed, but we remember Who brought it into being and we realize that just as we might be intimidated by the added responsibility, we can know that we are not alone in the journey.

Just as little Vinnie will grow into his Christmas gift, we, with prayer, faith, and obedience will grow into the added responsibility of this new building.

So we step into 2024 with the following verse, ringing in our ears:

Isaiah 43:18-19

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?  I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert..

As we, the board of Two Burning Candles, the staff of Promise Springs Rescue Center, and the girls and babies step forward to greet 2024, know that we pray for each of you.  We pray for you to travel into a year of refreshing springs where God is making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert
